  • Superintendent's Report-Dr. Ferris

    • Budget Presentation

      • After reviewing the parent responses, the greatest interest was for children to have greater exposure to STEAM activities, music and arts and building upgrades.

      • Budget proposal is under the tax cap

        • Under the budget there will be:

          • Professional Development 

          • Increased technology in the the classroom 

          • Redesigning staff to best address the needs of the district

          • Full Day Pre-K in all schools-7 sections for 2023-2024

          • Enhance reading and math support in kindergarten-fifth

          • Push in AIS at Cherry year one

            • After year one, take the data collected and apply it in all three elementary schools year two.

          • RTI Coordinator position to create equity among the buildings: this assures that all students in the district receive the same support.

          • Full Day Integrated Co-teaching 

          • Cherry Ave: will be getting a STEAM Lab (as a pilot for year two for Sunrise and Lincoln)

          • World Language will be offered in all of the elementary schools.  Early exposure to learning a foreign language will lead to greater fluency.

          • Adding to Capital Reserves-this allows the district to perform renovations without having to 

  • Pre-school to Kindergarten Transition

    • Mrs. Gigante presented to the parents of incoming students the breakdown of the programs available to students wilh special needs.  

    • Mrs. Knote presented about the speech push-in program in the Kindergarten classes.
